About Professor V.I. Vigdorovich

Vladimir Vigdorovich was born on August 19, 1937 in Leningrad, graduated from school in town Karpinsk, Sverdlovsk region. In 1960 he graduated from the Ural polytechnical institute (UGTU-UPI) with major in "Technology of electrochemical productions". In 1960 – 62 he worked as the research associate at laboratory of corrosion and sewage treatment of the Yaroslavl scientific research institute of monomers for synthetic acids (nowadays JSC Scientific Research Institute Yarsintez). In 1962 came to a postgraduate study at Voronezh State University, Department of physical chemistry. In 1966 defended the PhD thesis on the subject "Mechanism of Dissolution of Magnesian Alloys".

Since 1967 Vladimir Vigdorovich lived and worked in Tambov. His scientific and pedagogical activity was closely related to the two Tambov universities. He delivered courses of inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, theory of corrosion of metals, colloidal chemistry, structure of substance, ecology (chemical aspects and problems), ecology of the atmosphere, hydrosphere ecology, technique and technologies for processing and recycling, physical chemistry of nanomaterials.

At the Derzhavin Tambov State University Vladimir Vigdorovich worked 1967-2007 and led departments of inorganic and physical chemistry, organic and analytical chemistry, analytical chemistry and ecology. 2001 to 2006 he headed institute of natural sciences. Now practically all faculty teaching staff of Chair of chemistry consists of his former students.

Since 2007 Vladimir Vigdorovich was professor of Tambov State Technical University.

V.I. Vigdorovich was always actively engaged in public activities. 1971-1984 he was a member of the Scientific commission on chemistry of the Ministry of Public Education of RSFSR, 1973 — 1986 the chairman of local organization of society "Znaniye" at Tambov State Pedagogical Institute, 1987 — 1990 the chairman of regional board of the D.I. Mendeleyev All-Union chemical society, 1990 — 1995 the chairman of regional board of scientific and technical society of the Russian Federation, since 1985 the member of scientific and technical council at the Environmental Protection Agency for Tambov region, 1994 — 1997 the member of political council "For revival of Tambov region".

Since 1996 V.I.Vigdorovich was the chairman of the PhD and since 1999 of the Doctor's dissertation council on specialty 05.17.03 –Chemical resistance of materials and protection against corrosion (chemical sciences, technical sciences) at the G.R. Derzhavin Tambov State University. Since 2008 Vladimir Vigdorovich was Chairman of dissertation council D 212.260.06 at Tambov State Technical University on specialty 05.17.03 – Technology of electrochemical processes and protection against corrosion. Among his former students there are more than 30 PhD and 5 Doctors of Chemistry.

More than 10 years of his fruitful scientific life including the last 4 years were closely related to his work in VNIITIN. Working there, Vladimir Vigdorovich defended the Doctoral dissertation "Electrode processes and corrosion of metals of group of iron in alcohol media”, became professor on this specialty, obtained a title "Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Russian Federation", the diploma of Presidium of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences for the best complete scientific development of 2013. In October, 2015 Vladimir Vigdorovich was awarded a gold medal of the All-Russian Association of Corrosion Engineers for an outstanding contribution to development of domestic and world corrosion science and outstanding progress in pedagogical activity. For development of the theory and practice of protection of metals against hydrosulphuric and carbon dioxide corrosion in the oil and gas industry in 2015 he was elected the honorary academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences on section of oil and gas. His tutees also work at VNIITIN now.

In 2016 Vladimir Vigdorovich became the winner of a competition for a state support of Scientific Schools for agricultural sciences: NSh 9730.2016.11 "Fundamental bases of protection against corrosion of agricultural machinery during interseasonal storage and equipment of livestock farms".

Vladimir Vigdorovich’s contribution to development of science on Tambov region can scarcely be overestimated. About 1000 scientific works on theory of corrosion and protection of metals, theoretical and applied electrochemistry, chemical ecology, theory and practice of sorption processes on natural sorbents, among whose about 200 have been published in leading foreign scientific journals. He developed about 20 patents.
